Tell Us About Your Vision
The first step in creating your custom outdoor living space is completing our online project inquiry form. This allows us to thoughtfully review your vision, including how you plan to use the space, your desired size, and your budget range.
Once your form is received, a member of the PHI Decks team will follow up by email to discuss your project in more detail and schedule a consultation. This intentional approach allows us to prepare in advance and provide a more tailored, meaningful planning experience.
From the very beginning, our goal is to understand your needs clearly and guide you through a seamless process toward an outdoor space that is both beautifully designed and expertly built.
Discuss Your Goals & Layout
Following your project inquiry, we will schedule an appointment to discuss your project goals in detail. This consultation may take place by phone or in person, depending on the needs of your project.
During this time, we will review how you plan to use your outdoor space, explore layout possibilities and size options, and begin shaping the overall design direction. We may touch briefly on material considerations at a high level, with detailed material selections and color palettes explored later in the process during a showroom visit, prior to finalizing your project agreement.
This planning step creates a strong foundation for the design phase and ensures your outdoor living space is tailored to your home and lifestyle.
Create Your Custom Design
After collecting all necessary information, our team begins developing your custom deck or porch design, starting with conceptual drawings to help you visualize your space. Once the design is underway, we prepare a detailed proposal with estimated pricing and 3D renderings.
When the proposal is ready, we’ll schedule a phone or video call to review it with you, answer questions, and discuss next steps. At that time, you can choose to reserve your place on the schedule with a 5% down payment. We’ll also book your PHI Decks Showroom appointment, where we’ll review your 3D design together, explore materials and finishes in person, and finalize details. Additional showroom visits and design refinements are always welcome as we work toward your ideal plan.
Refine Materials & Details
Following your showroom visit, we’ll guide you through finalizing material selections, finishes, and color options that align with your design vision and lifestyle. This is where your custom plan truly comes to life — from decking and railing to lighting and accents.
Once selections are complete, we’ll finalize your project agreement with a detailed scope of work, confirmed pricing, and an anticipated timeline. This ensures full transparency and clarity before construction begins.
Our team will answer any remaining questions and make sure you feel confident and excited about every choice. By the end of this step, your design is fully refined, and your project is ready to move into production.
Beginning Construction
With the design finalized and your project scheduled, our skilled in-house build crews begin construction at your home. We take great pride in executing every detail with precision and care, from site preparation through finishing touches.
Throughout the build, your project manager will keep you informed on progress and timelines, and our team will maintain a clean and respectful jobsite environment.
This is the moment your vision becomes reality; expertly crafted, structurally sound, and thoughtfully constructed to enhance both your home and lifestyle.

Create Your Own Outdoor Living Space

PHONE CONSULTATION
After completing the phone consultation and determining that PHI Decks is a good fit for your project, we may setup a site visit if needed.
SITE VISIT
DESIGN & PRODUCT SELECTIONS
Once preliminary pricing has been approved we will begin designing and bidding the project. We will create 3D renderings to help you visualize your new outdoor space and help determine colors and finishes prior to construction. Along with these renderings we will supply you with a written proposal of the exact cost of your project.
If design and product changes are made, this bidding phase can span over a couple of weeks. Our schedule does fill up quickly so if you are confident in selecting PHI Decks as your custom deck builder, we will take a 5% down payment to reserve your spot on the schedule. Once your spot is reserved we can continue making changes and fine tune the design.
